New Mexico data center projects in government records, 2026
We found 3 New Mexico data center projects in government records dated April 26 to October 26, 2026: a New Mexico Environment Department air permit case for a fuel cell power plant that would serve a data center near Santa Teresa, Public Regulation Commission and legislative handouts on Meta's Los Lunas campus, and a City of Gallup council agenda. One of the 3 states an equipment count, from a draft air permit. Every project links to its government record.
Lea County's agenda center could not be read, and we found no government record in the window for several projects reported in the news (Google in Lea County, proposals in Raton, Socorro and at Spaceport America); many county and city portals were not checked. This is a sample, not a complete list.
YGI Microgrid (Yucca Growth Infrastructure), fuel cell power plant for a data center near Santa Teresa
About 3.6 miles south of Santa Teresa, Doña Ana County, New Mexico
- Record
- Air permit case AQB 26-57 (P), second amended scheduling order for NSR Permit No. 10883, Oct 16, 2026. The draft permit (marked draft as of Jul 29, 2026) says the facility's function is to generate power to operate a data center. env.nm.gov
- Applicant as named
- Yucca Growth Infrastructure, LLC, with Bloom Energy Corp named as operator in the draft permit.
- Stage
- Permit pending. NMED received the application Apr 27, 2026 and ruled it administratively complete May 27, 2026 (NMED letter). The NMED records we opened do not name the data center; news coverage describes the pending NMED air permit for the fuel cell power source of Oracle's Project Jupiter data center in Doña Ana County (reported by Source NM). The NM Supreme Court paused the permit proceedings in August and lifted that stay on Sep 17, 2026 (reported by Source NM). On Oct 15, 2026 Oracle said it plans to cut the greenhouse gas emissions of the data center's proposed power source by 35% (reported by Source NM). A virtual hearing on discovery motions was scheduled for Oct 29, 2026 (NMED notice).
- Equipment stated
- Proposed in the application; the draft permit (not issued) would allow a maximum of 2,275 Bloom Energy solid oxide fuel cell clusters with a total electric generating capacity of 2,462 MW. The hearing notice says the applicant requests continuous operation (8,760 hours a year). A natural gas fuel supply was reported by Source NM.
- Next public date
- Dec 7, 2026: public permit hearing begins at the Sunland Park Multi-Generational Center (scheduling order).
Meta Los Lunas data center campus
Los Lunas, Valencia County, New Mexico
- Record
- Public Regulation Commission presentation handout to a legislative interim committee on large electric load users, Aug 11, 2026, citing PRC Case No. 25-00048-UT (approved Dec 18, 2025). nmlegis.gov
- Applicant as named
- Meta, as named in the PRC handout; the utility is PNM under special service contracts.
- Stage
- Operating site, expansion. A "Los Lunas Update" handout for the Legislature's Economic and Rural Development and Policy Committee (Jun 30, 2026; preparer not named) lists Meta's current second expansion as "Almost complete" and a third expansion as announced (handout).
- Equipment stated
- No on site equipment stated in the records we opened. The PRC handout lists 290 MW of solar and 268 MW of battery storage under the Meta example tied to PRC Case No. 25-00048-UT; it does not say where these resources are sited.
Teraplex Data Centers proposed data center campus (about 330 acres)
Gallup, McKinley County, New Mexico
- Record
- City Council regular meeting agenda, item F.5 "Effluent Option Agreement with Teraplex Data Centers, LLC," Apr 28, 2026, with the draft agreement. gallupnm.gov
- Applicant as named
- Teraplex Data Centers, LLC, a Virginia limited liability company (named in the agreement).
- Stage
- Early land or zoning. The draft agreement would let Teraplex buy up to 109,500,000 gallons of city effluent a year, including for use at a data center planned on about 330 acres in the city. The council voted 4 to 1 to defer a decision (reported by Source NM).
- Equipment stated
- None stated in the records we opened. On site power from a mix of solar and natural gas was reported by Source NM.
